Entry Qualifications
A minimum of five GCSEs, or equivalent, at grade A* – C or 4 – 9 including English Language, and a minimum of a grade D or 3 in Maths.
What will I study?
This course is delivered over two years and is equivalent to one A Level.
Consists of three mandatory and one specialist unit:
Unit 1 – Dispute Solving in Civil Law.
Unit 2 – Investigating Aspects of Criminal Law and the Legal System
Unit 3 – Applying the Law
Unit 6 – The specialist unit allows the student to understand the rules of Contract Law.
How will I study?
Students will learn through a variety of teaching methods with teacher led lessons. Students will produce individual projects and assignments involving research which students will be expected to work on their own account. Homework is a regular feature.
How is the course examined?
Students will be assessed by internal assignments for both Unit 2 and Unit 6 and will sit external assessments for Unit 3 and Unit 1.
Where next?
Students can progress on to higher education, or into employment.
What does the course combine well with?
Public Services or any other level 3 subjects.
Equivalents:
The Extended Certificate is equivalent to 1 A level.
College Entry Requirements

Students undertaking a Level 3 ‘hybrid’ programme comprising at least one A Level element are required to meet the standard College A-Level criteria.
